With +Gomez elected President of the USCCB (expected since he was previously the VP, which is the common progression), I’m happy to see no fear-headlines (yet) mentioning he was an Opus Dei priest before becoming a bishop.
And, while mentioning he is the first Hispanic to be USCCB Prez, no one has harped that he was born in Mexico, not becoming a US citizen until the mid-90s.
I, sadly, would have expected some elements to be making noise about either one.
