@shaharia @taylorotwell Since this is similar to Automattic/WordPress, it’s an ecosystem. Both help each other grow. Vast majority of WP is community-driven, but a lot is informed by data from the company—which the open source proj doesn’t have.

@shaharia @taylorotwell But, the open source roadmap isn’t based on the company’s needs. Where the “threats” to the relevance of both the OSS project and the company are the same, that’s an OSS thing. If it only impacts the company, company is the place for that.
@shaharia @taylorotwell At least with WP, it has been built to be very extendable. The places and ways it can be extended come from the community—what do others need for themselves that not everyone does. Both the company and the broader ecosystem determine that
