I switched the site over to using Twenty Twenty Three yesterday with my first “real” experience with the Site Editor. I’ve created some small single-page sites with the Block Editor, but hadn’t spent real time with it.
It’ll take me a little bit to get used to it, but this is overall a positive move toward unlocking WordPress site development to more people.
Yes, it means that more people can create sites with less technical awareness. WordPress and other CMSes did the same thing where you didn’t need to know HTML to build a website.
Developers will always be needed to create more tools and abstractions—and WordPress should remain flexible to allow those developers to enhance and build upon the Core—but I could see my wife actually feeling ownership over her business’ site with these tools.
At the end of the day, my goal is to make my wife happy, so I want to build tools that are both helpful and useful to her.
