Effective May 8th, Texas hair salons, nail salons, barber shops, tanning salons, etc will be allowed to reopen.
Recommended but not required to use an appointment system. Walk-in/waiting should occur outside or with 6-ft distance.

I’m going to keep letting my hair grow since I get beard work done. I can’t do that while wearing a mask. It isn’t worth the risk (period) to me, but definitely not worth the risk for half of what I usually have done.

May 18th: Gyms can reopen at 25% capacity of the “gym component”. But, if you do exercise outside, no capacity limit but must keep spacing.
Showers and locker rooms must remain closed.

Gym patrons must wear gloves that cover their full hands and fingers and stay six-feet apart inside.
Anything brought from home (e.g. yoga mat) must be disinfected both when arriving and leaving.

Side note: I didn’t hear his explanation how starting Phase I last Friday and then needing to see the data before deciding on what’s next (as he announced last Monday) turned into announcing new things today.

Now, he’s inviting bars to contact the governor’s office on how they could try to re-open safely, suggesting that they would be the next target of the state’s reopening plan.

More manufactures, for non-essential goods, can reopen May 18th as well.
Why May 18th? Because businesses need time to gear up.

Offices can open up more as well.

Now talking about school graduation and other elevation ceremonies (e.g. kinder graduations).

“Hybrid” ceremonies are now allowed, where individuals come in for a picture/video of getting a diploma which is then patched together to broadcast.
Car-based ceremonies are allowed.
“Outdoor with distance” ceremonies (e.g. the Air Force Academy) will be allowed.

Noting that Austin ISD already rescheduled graduation ceremonies to August.
