@SamRochadotcom Thanks for sharing. This resonates in that I only applied to three state schools. Didn’t apply, visit, or realistically considered any other school because I knew I’d be on the hook to pay for it. Had some scholarships, worked while in school, still needed loans.

    @SamRochadotcom As in, I’d love to have gone to a Catholic school, but I didn’t think any aid I’d get would make any of them affordable. Even at UT-Austin, I was in school when tuition deregulation went into effect. My first and last semesters cost very different amounts.

    @SamRochadotcom And likewise, didn’t have any family or anyone close who knew the system, that private schools often give a lot of aid. I looked at the sticker price, application fee, and figured it would be a waste of money to apply to schools I didn’t have a plan already figured out to afford.
