  • Today is the kids’ first day of school! Except middle school kids became there was a fire at their school last night. The same school that had a fire over Christmas break a couple years ago. The same building that only exists because the previous school building burnt down in the 80s.

  • I have a couple weeks left of my second quinquennial sabbatical at Automattic. I haven’t thought (much) about work during this time and I need to reflect on what this three months have brought as I jump back into it.   • While not holding my breath, it would be interesting to see more open processes in the selection of bishops. I am not advocating for a pure democratic process—not at all. But, seeing the Cathedral Chapter involved in proposing names, a lay (and stable) entity have a well-defined role, the Vatican being involved with vetting, etc.…

  • If you have a dually pickup truck with extended arm (towing) mirrors without a trailer and you park on a street with 9-ft travel lanes without folding them in… Well, I don’t feel bad if your mirror gets smacked.

  • I know I won’t, but I’m on the edge of a news fast until November. Nothing that makes me hopeful nor worried in U.S. politics matters until the voting happens.
