IBM Icon hits 3 keys to success
Today is David Bradley’s last day at work. Most of us have no clue who he is but we know- very well in fact- what he’s done..
In or around 1980, Bradley with a team of engineers worked on creating the IBM PC- more or less, the same computer concept that many of us use today. The team realized they needed a fail-safe key combination to force the computer to reboot. Bradley sat down for five minutes and coded the CTRL-ALT-DEL shortcut. Bradley is retiring today.
At a 20-year celebration of the IBM PC, Bradley, along with then-Microsoft CEO and Chairman, Bill Gates and others, were on a panel. The key combo was brought up and Bradley added “I may have invented it, but Bill made it famous.”
Gates didn’t laugh.
