My identity as a Texan is core to me. As much as Texas’ government, IMO, fails to live up to “being Texan”, HEB is an example of what being a Texan is really about.

Be proud of who you are, be helpful to each other because it’s the right thing to do.

As an Austinite, we stepped up and helped each other. We expect and need government to step up, but breweries gave out water so gov’t water could be directed to critical populations first.

We helped each other clear ice off of sidewalks and shut off each other’s water.

We opened our homes for neighbors without power or our bathrooms for neighbors without water to shower. We don’t sit back and wait on the government to “save us”. BUT, we expect our government to serve us, which has been lacking of late in the Lone Star State.
