@beerbabe @mklinger421 Eh, I don’t know about that. I see it like RSS evolved, hooked up with email’s server concept and had a baby.

You can read it where you want, you can host it where your want, but everyone agrees on how to read/follow the each other.

    @beerbabe @mklinger421 Not to throw more confusion, but Mastodon itself just implements a standard that other things can use. I setup my site so anyone can follow me (@kraft) and see my posts in their mastodon feed. If you reply, it is parsed as posting a comment to my server.
