@FrHilderbrand I don’t agree with him outright, but I like that overall thought. At the very least sacramental prep needs to be loads better and office staff need to be better (generally). A shorter baptismal prep for adults may make sense but we need to overall do adult formation better first.

@FrHilderbrand I’ve seen too much “their kid is being baptized so let’s try to cram everything about their faith into this six hour session” that doesn’t actually prep a parent on how to “raise a Catholic* because this is their “one chance” to catch the parent.
@FrHilderbrand Then “they are getting first communion! Let’s do more Catholicism 101 because there’s no way the parent remembered or practiced anything since their kid was baptized.”
@FrHilderbrand But, I do agree that if we are going to do RCIA, we should follow what the book says… which isn’t an academic year approach. My old campus ministry would do a rite of welcoming about monthly as needed for anyone expressing interest. It made the process longer (generally…
@FrHilderbrand receive their sacraments at their second Easter in the process) but they were included in the community ASAP. I can get baptising faster but still have a process to help form a person before completing initiation.
