I wonder what it would take to have Mastodon use Akismet for spam filtering. Tons of obvious spam hitting my server today.

    @kraft I think I pitched that when I was at a8c, it seems like it would be pretty valuable. Alas I don’t think Mastodon has a plugin system

      I don’t think it does either but I wonder if they have some system for optional modules, etc. I run a super small instance (less than 5 active users) and I can’t imagine the spam a larger instance must be seeing today.

        I will say that the federated aspect means that each server admin can stem the tide of spam on their servers. I didn’t see any today, and I suspect a lot of other people didn’t either. Then again, I don’t watch the federated feed too closely.
