Hasn’t silence been part of the problem? One guy tries to hide a bomb in his shoes and a decade later, we are still taking shoes off before boarding a plane. Two dozen school shootings this year and we still can’t even mention gun control as part of a solution. twitter.com/GovAbbott/stat…

How about a moment of action tomorrow instead? Santa Fe already has been in my prayers; I don’t need the State to encourage me to have time for that. I need the State to give me some better assurance my kids won’t have to do tactical drills instead of kickball in PE class.
Arming teachers? I don’t understand what world outside of the NRA where this makes sense. There was a church shooting? Arm pastors! Shooting at a baseball game? Arm baseball players! Sliding into home works much better when carrying a sidearm.
When my eldest was in first grade, one of my first thoughts was that her classroom was closest with a straight-shot to the front door. Sandy Hook was a bloodbath of first graders. twitter.com/nytimes/status…
This year, she was in a portable. First thought? That screwball who went shooting an elementary school playground. “Fewer doors” says my Lt. Gov. Ha. The State already takes more than half of the district tax income (since Austin is considered cash-rich) by the state.
[Insert side rant about there will be overlap between the people who insist we need more guns carried who will also call the cops if they see a black man anywhere “out of place”, much less if he was carrying.]
