the mystical body

A real quick intro to something I hope to expound on later.
In today’s Gospel, it says:

The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him
but were unable to join him because of the crowd.
He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside
and they wish to see you.”
He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers
are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

Jesus is saying his brothers are those who hear the word of God and act upon it. In the Gospel of John, he says “You are my friends if you do what I command.”
In both of these passages, we are told that to be the brothers and sisters of Jesus, to be his friend, we have to be those who hear God’s voice and follow it. What if we don’t? How does that impact the Mystical Body? Who is the Mystical Body? We tend to expand the Mystical Body to include everyone but is that the case? I don’t believe we should treat anyone differently depending on the answer to that, but this concept is striking me as of late.
