Hot Dog: Good ole’ American hot dog with chili, mustard and onions.
Ben’s Chili Bowl is an icon of Washington, DC. Everyone who is anyone has been to this place. Their walls are covered in photographs of folks eating one of these iconic hot dogs. Their website includes pictures of presidents, mayors, comedians, musicians, and the Nationals baseball team.
I went while visiting the Paulist Seminary, St. Paul’s College, which is next door to the USCCB’s office and a block or so away from the Catholic University of America campus.
I wasn’t with a President, but I was with a friend, Steve Bell. Steve, while a deacon, did sing for Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Washington, DC in 2008 (the same trip I saw BXVI in New York), so that’s kinda close to having the hot dog with a Pope, right?
