My heart sinks with every school shooting. Having a 15-year old daughter myself and hearing the school was often a place where kids who need a fresh start go, hurts. I can imagine a parent knowing their kid needs help and hoping this would be a good step toward that, only for them to commit a horrible crime, killing others, and ending their own life.

Of course, a lot of details are outstanding. How did they get the gun? The story may be very different from the one in my head.

A second-grader second-grade teacher (original police account was incorrect) made the 911 call. None of this should ever feel normal, which, sadly it does. I have little hope that our society will actually make changes.
