I’m not an expert or even knowledgeable on the Laws of the Game, but what are the bounds of VAR? That goal being overturned seems to be total bullshit.

He stood on his foot and tugged his shirt.

Just the time delay for the review. I come from the American football sense of challenge/review where once the next play starts, can’t review it. How long has to pass before it is simply a missed call that’s part of the game?

I’m not sure of the official rule but it was the same move and no Argentina player had touched the ball. It’s not about the time delay, it’s about getting to the right decision.

It’s very different because of there not being a challenge mechanism. Basically the VAR will have told the ref there is something to check.

Yeah, the more I read, the more obvious that I’m just a novice with the rules and in the wrong. It _felt_ like a long time, but it seems obviously within the scope of VAR.

Folks could always argue about different subjective things, but objectively, it’s within VAR’s scope.

Egypt had the right response. Have the goal disallowed? Just go get another one.
