@askwpgirl @sdenike I generally use mod_rewrite on hosts with Apache. The biggest gotcha IMO is more steps to uninstall (why PHP is stated as recommended).

@askwpgirl @sdenike It’s actually normal. they’re a form of legacy caching and the php die is to avoid directly being loaded by anyone.

@rachelbaker FWIW, it sounds incredibly hard to me given the cowboy world of plugins tying into anything in who knows what ways.
