To close this out, it took a little bit but @ATTCares did come through. I’ve been made whole from a tech accidentally removing a battery.

And @ATTCares’s solution is to buy this fibersafebattery.com , which isn’t for a residential gateway at all, even after clarifying.
Oh by the way, these instructions from @ATTCares really mean “We don’t provide a battery.”
