Teaser: Emoji isn’t even close to why this is a huge step forward.

After the interesting in emoji from my tweets last night, I’m writing a guide on WP 4.2 w/ emoji. I blame @GaryPendergast for hooking me in.

@JiveDig Technically, it is allowed. Same underlying tech as Chinese characters, IIRC. All browsers work. Just things that autolink wonky.

The only reason the :beer: link works on my site is I have an actual category slugged “beer”, which is what WP finds for /:beer:/

Twitter, if you try to enter it manually, won’t link: brandonkraft.com/b/t/🍺/ . Worst, @SlackHQ will convert it to brandonkraft.com/b/t/:beer:/
