Just for a moment, I’d like to pause and reflect on the 20-minute nap I sought after today and was just out of my grasp.
I was at the Catholic Center and thought to myself “I am tired. I have 25 minutes until Mass. I’ll take a 20-minute nap.” I lie down. Ignoring the people who were quite loud downstairs, sleep was soon approaching. Then my phone rings. I would ignore it but it’s the Chancery. Fr. David was returning a phone call from a few days ago. Okay, that’s fine.
I make a couple of quick calls and a quick e-mail to the people who were interested in what the call was about (an event having to change times). I have 12 minutes left to sleep. I lie back down. The phone rings. It’s Fischer. I answer. I lie back down. The phone rings. It’s John. I lie back down. The phone alarm goes off- it’s time for Mass.
And so, I tip my hat to you, O Master of Sleep for you allude me once again.
