WPGraphQL is now a canonical plugin that is officially part of the project.

Jason Bahl, the developer behind the plugin, has been hired by Automattic to continue working on it. https://www.wpgraphql.com/2024/10/07/wpgraphql-becomes-a-canonical-plugin-my-move-to-automattic

GraphQL is a means to query a site used by developers. If you’re heard of the REST API, this performs a similar role in a different way that is more flexible.
